On Sunday September 20th, Minister Phillips visited the DataWiz Academy for a tour and presentation of what DataWiz offers to students. DataWiz inspires youth to shape the world by offering learning modules that teach 21st-century skills and economy – and encourage a love of learning for life.
We provided a presentation to Minister Phillips about what the our Academy offers to the children and youth of the Greater Toronto area. This includes kids coding programs such as Scratch, designed by MIT, which is taught to students from the ages of 6 to 12. Snap!, an extended re-implementation of Scratch designed by the University of California Berkeley, is taught to students from the ages of 12 to 14. At the secondary school level, we introduce students to Python, one of the most commonly used programs in the world.

Minister Phillips highlighted the importance of data to the future prosperity of Ontario’s economy. He outlined the importance of everyone to learn coding, data literacy, analysis, and critical thinking skills. We thank him for his time and support for what we are doing at the DataWiz Academy of Data Science.
